Finally getting my 28lb Highland Games throwing weight made
Hi, I have unsuccessfully tried to get a 28lb throwing weight together for ages and then yesterday had a brainwave.
I had bought a number of 2 and 2.2 and 2.3lb weights recently fro the tip shop and I realized yhat I have an unused old dumbell bar sitting around.
So my welder friend at a local scrap yard is going to spot weld the weights and bar together, cut the bar off with a little protruding and then weld heavy chain to that.
As we were weighing it all another welder came up with a d shaped old gym machine handle complete with turning metal grip! Perfect!
Will have it ready in a couple of days.
Also pictured is the throwing weight we made for my 9 year old keen little Highland Heavy. It's about 10lbs all up. He loves it and throws it well.
Finished picture to follow.
Not much of a HG scene at the moment here in Australia but we are training together for the future. Hope to make it overseas together whenever that happens again.
