    Tearing Polyviscose To Width

I purchased two different fabrics which I'm going to be making kilts from. The first is 16 oz wool from House of Edgar. That's going to be my "good" kilt. The other is some relatively lightweight PV which is going to be my "trial" kilt. I wanted to work first on less expensive material and hopefully make most of my mistakes there.

I purchased 4 yards of 60" PV fabric. Should I attempt to rip the PV or simply cut it when I split the fabric and then later set the length of the kilt?
