Tartan and maker identification?
This is an eBay find- needs a good bit of work, but I think I can rescue it. Hoping someone can identify tartan and wondering if anyone has heard of the maker.
Kilt MAY be a lost cause- at least for me. The purchase was well worth it becuase it came with a jacket that needs only minor modification, an old but servicable sporran, four (nice) pairs of hose, and a fairly nice kilt pin.
To my (very) untrained eye/feel, I would guess it's a light-weight wool 8yrd. Definitely not acrylic.
BUT. It's too long and too big around the waist. It was enough of a bargain (£60 for everything), and rough enough that I'm happy to have it hemmed rather than properly shortened from the top. As you can see from the photos, the straps have all been moved or replaced in a rather brutal manner, so moving/replacing them again to tighten it up a few inches will be an improvement. The holes I may live with or try to repair myself.
Any thoughts, tips, or tricks much appreciated.
Thanks!
