From All I have heard about negative reactions of Clan Societies at local games, you may be better to find out if the clan society has a website, and to deal with the higher ups. I would never have joined the Clan MacKenzie Society of North America, if I had only dealt with the un-interested, uninformed, and rude **** that was manning the Clan tent at my local games a few years ago. Instead I have dealt with the person the runs the society, and have had him bend over backwards with help and information.
Unfortunately, Colin's description of many clan reps at games is right on the money. When I have set up at various regional games, I have observed all sorts of folks representing the various societies, from those who take it very seriously & are very knowledgeable, to those who are on the other end of the spectrum. Since most clan societies are volunteer organisations, that is the risk you run, and some clan societies do not provide all of the necessary information to their commissioners & convenors as others do.

Membership is the key to these society's survival, so elitist attitudes are self-defeating & destructive, not to mention historically incorrect.

Cheers,

Todd
