After a kilted trip to South Alabama, I'm home again!

I saw quite a few double-takes, lots of lovely smiles and outright grins, and several comments, none bad.

First, I stopped in Northport, AL, at Wal-Mart to get a sandwich and a few other items. While in the deli, a black lady stopped and asked if I were "Scotch or Irish." I replied that I was a typical Southerner, i.e. Scots, Scotch-Irish, and Welsh. She went on to say that I was the first man she ever saw wearing a kilt and that it sure looks good.

Needless to say, I left the store with a bit of a swagger.

When I arrived at my Mom's home, she had a small surprise for me, after over 30 years, she'd had the driveway paved with concrete to replace the gravel of years before. While she was laughing about her surprise, I said, "You're not the only one with a surprise," and stepped from behind the truck door displaying my PK in all it's slightly rumpled glory. That brought even more laughter as well as, "Who'd have thought I'd see my son wearing a skirt?" At least it was in good humor and she knows I've wanted one since I was a kid, even if she didn't want me to have it.

On the trip home, I was again asked if I were Scottish or Irish, this time by a convience store clerk. And while again getting nibbles in Tuscaloosa, a lady smiled and spoke as I walked past, when she noticed the kilt, she said, "Cool!" and I said, "Thank you. And it is lots cooler than jeans in this heat."

Lots of fun, but now I need to iron some wrinkles from my kilt.

Now to save for the next kilt!!!! I hope it goes faster than the first!!!!!!!!!!
