Harlem Globetrotter in a kilt?

I was flipping channels last night and caught an interview with one of the refs for the Harlem Globetrotter (may have been another team) games. It was sad because they were making fun of the poor guy and he had no clue.

What did catch my eye was the vintage film clips. One of the players was wearing red white and blue kilt. It looked a lot like modern day backetball shorts but you could see the pleats when he jumped. Pretty cool. Has anyone else seen this?

The next channel was AFV and they had a clip of a kid at a wedding lifting his kilt and answering the age old question.
