A sad day for me today. One of my clients was found dead. Alcohol poisoning last week. Just found today. Not a pretty sight or smell. Lots of paperwork and interaction with investigating police and detectives on scene at his apartment.

Was kilted at work when I found out, Tan UK original, LL Bean USMC tartan sport shirt, oatmeal kilt hose. Just went. On scene for two hours (We're a long way from the nearest mortuary). Officers never commented on the kilt, just did business professionally and respectfully.

Only comment was from an elderly lady referring to the high winds here today, "I hope you have something on under that." Just smiled politely and said, "Aye lassie."

Guess the only good part is I can pretty well stop worrying about being called out somewhere from work while kilted. So far have been called out to the local jail - no problem with the deputy sheriffs, the local court - no problem with the judge. Now a death scene with swarms of police - no problem with any of them.

Still sad though. Guy was a lot like me, had been a Marine, was a periodic binge drinker just like me, who had withdrawal seizures just like me. Kinda close to home. I didn't get sober until 45, he died of booze at 41. Go figure.

Was kinda nice I chose my USMC tartan shirt to wear today...turned out to be a small tribute.

Ask not for whom the bell tolls....and enjoy your kilts while you may.
