Wearing my kilt to the cub scout meeting. This meeting's theme is "My Family Tree". I've asked the scouts to either wear or bring something that reflects their heritage, so it will be interesting to see what we get.

I'm not Scottish, but when I've looked at the history of Scouting, there were several Scots gentleman who played important roles in the beginning. That's why I'll wear it tonight. I plan to educate the scouts about the scouting heritage.

My wife doesn't know I'm planning to wear my kilt. Here's hoping she likes it and wants me to wear it for her. She may not even remember I have it. I made it over 11 years ago before we were married, but never quite finished it. I have been re-working it on and off (secretly) over the last several months. Amongst taking it in about 6 inches, I replaced the buckles and straps, and finished lining it.

The times I've put it on to check the fit, I really didn't want to take it off. Unfortunately, I don't have a sporran. I'm either going to rent a cheap looking one from the costume shop, or use a nice black leather pouch (about 4 inches by 6 inches - maybe a little bigger) that looks quite nice. The pouch is made to go on a belt, and has a flap that folds over the front.

My kilt is an 8 yard, Black Stewart, pleated to stripe.

I'll post pics tomorrow (hopefully).
