    Calling All Pipers!!!

The following message is from the Celtic Society of Louisiana:

    For immediate release -- November 21, 2005

Celtic groups remember hurricane victims and survivors

Members of the Celtic Society of Louisiana and the
Caledonian Society of Baton Rouge will gather on
November 30th, the final day of hurricane season, to
remember all those who have been affected throughout
    the Gulf Coast region.

Bagpipe players from both organizations will meet at
sunset on the November 30th at the USS Kidd to pay
tribute to the hundreds of thousands of people who
lost their homes and loved ones during the Hurricane
Season of 2005 and previous years.

“We got the idea from the 9-11 tributes,” said Stan
Masinter, of the Caledonian Society’s Baton Rouge
Pipes and Drums. “We wanted to do the same for the
    hurricane victims.”

The groups have also sent word around the country to
other pipers to do the same.

“Wherever you are at sunset on the 30th we want you to
pipe a tribute,” said Marty Bergen of the Celtic
Society’s Na Cait Dubh Pipes and Drums. “Celtic
people throughout history have always marked tragedy
and hope with tributes and usually with music.”

Another group in Mandeville, The Kilts of Many
Colours, led by Steve Brownlee, will also be playing
    bagpipes in remembrance.

“We are hoping that you will hear pipes across the
Gulf Coast and the nation at sunset,” said Brownlee.
“We will try to make marking the end of hurricane
season an annual event.” The Kilts of Many Colours
Pipes and Drums will be at the Mandeville Harbor
pavilion around sunset on November 30th.

Hurricanes affect states from Texas to the New England
each year and each year there is tragedy. These
Celtic organizations want to remember those who were
lost as well as those who survived.
