Just a thought: it's not how many kilts you have...

Kilts are great. I have several and I enjoy them I'm looking forward to when I get around to finishing up my hand-sewn, and then moving on to the X-Marks tartan. When I'm all done with this round I'll have seven kilts. I'd like to add a gray stewart and California tartan kilt to that collection. That's nine kilts. That's a lot of kilts, if you ask me!

Hamish has nearly 60 kilts. Ron has over forty. KCW just ordered three more. That's GREAT, and I'm glad for you guys!

But to guys who have only one, or maybe don't have any kilts at all yet and money is tight and dropping over $100 on a kilt when you can spend $25 for a pair of pants that you can wear to work doesn't make sense....for you guys I'd like to say this...

The value of kilt wearing and the "worth" of the kilt does not lie in how many you own. The guy with one kilt in his family tartan, who takes pride in his family history and wears it when he can, is every bit as much a kilted man as one who has thirty hanging in his closet.

The guy without an ounce of Scottish blood in his arteries that buys one Utilikilt and wears it around because he likes it...guys that have ONE Kilt, are just as much kilt wearers as the guys who have forty, and who can afford to buy four or five at a time.

The college guy who can't afford much and has one $50 knock-off Pakistani kilt because that's all he can afford is just as much a part of this whacko brotherhood as the guy with the silver-handled sgian dubh. I'll shake hands with, crack a joke with and down a pint with either of those gents; not a second thought about it.

Here's to freedom and a fresh wind where it does the most good, for ALL of us, including the lasses that make us smile and add brilliance to our lives.
