Back when scots considered pants unusual, and kilts
normal, how many kilts would a typical one have had.
I would have suspected they would have had two,
as other cultures had one set of dress for worship,
and another for everything else.

I would also have suspected one to wear when the
other is being washed, but I remember reading that
an englishman could tell if a scot was approaching
by the smell. Maybe they never washed the kilts?

Of course it goes without saying that those of
wealth would have as many kilts as they desired.
These people are not the ones I'm asking about,
just the average folks.
