I've actually been surprised at how often I've been complimented on the Docs when wearing them with my kilts.

It may be as the result of my personal history, but I see Doc Martens through the eyes of an ex-punk rock wanna be. Anything other than the classic 8 hole (or, if pushed, classic oxfords) are not really Doc Martens in my mind, and when I wear them, I see myself as I was in the 80's, with multiple piercing and counter culture clothing. At my advanced age, I just am starting to feel silly in Docs.
Oddly, I think they look great on others.
However, as comfortable and durable as the Docs are, the Keens are at least more comfortable, and I really hope they hold up well.
