I've seen it work well, as documented here, here, and here (camera foreshortens the legs, so this kilted cowboy does not look like he did in person).
Now, I would have preferred to see some kilt hose sticking up from the boots, but I think he pulled it off for the occasion. I just noticed his casual kilt is box-pleated. Does anyone recognize the maker?

The event was in San Francisco. I wore my black UK mocker to lessons during the day, and no one noticed.
nice pics - i have yet to wear any of my kilts 2 stepping as i am usually a follow and get spun around so much that I am afraid i might flash someone (actually i wouldnt care but some of the crew where i go are a bit on the silly side & get bent out of shape at the drop of a hat!!!
