it's similar but not quite what's wrong with my father's sporran. In my case the cantle has threaded posts that stick through the leather and then each post has a cap nut tightened onto it. I can actually unscrew the nuts from the other posts.....I wish I had a digital cam to show you.

well, if you have no luck finding a proper nut, there is one other solution.

while not preferred, you can position the cantle as it is supposed to fit, and put a bunch of crazy glue in the hole around the screw. It will bond both to the leather and the metal almost instantly, and you will have a devil of a time getting them apart.

You might also want to try a jeweller. They will have lots of tiny screws that go in watches, and might have one that fits.
