Questions answered…
The kilt is from Highland Knitwear- I'd ordered it before I saw all the horror stories in these forums, but I have to say that it arrived right on time and is obviously hand-sewn, with lovely tiny stitches. I have no idea who the actual craftsperson was, but the tartan fabric is from the Lochcarron mill.
As for the belt, it was custom-made for me courtesy of Arthur Spelman Rose, who designed it. He refers to these belts as the "Three Roses Kilt Belt", and plans production of no more than 1000. Mine is #0341, is stamped with my initials, and came with a nice certificate of authenticity. The belts are actually constructed by Art's Amish friend, Joniah Hostetler, and are beautifully hand-crafted. The belt is a full 4" wide, of saddle-grade leather (gorgeous thick stuff!) with high-quality nickel hardware that is normally used only in horse tack. Sorry if I sound like a commercial, but I love this belt! I hope he won't mind that I give you all his contact info: poliglot@csweb.us
