I've read every post here tonight and at this point I'd like to take my virtual hat off to the moderators for doing an amazing job with putting with Us. Us of course being an eclectic, whimsical, insecure, obtuse and generally egocentric mob of (mostly) men who like to wear kilts in societies that have a fair amount of resistance to it.
I like that crowd, that's why I'm here.
That said, I wouldn't want the X-Marks moderating job for quids, and there are some here quite that possibly assume they'd do better. Funny thing about power in whatever capacity, often those who seek it are least qualified to weild it. But that another story...
I'm inclined to like the titleing system particularly for the pre 1000 or so for posters as it incourages participation as pointed out previously. I'd like to propose a voting system on a sliding scale for rank or title beyond and including the 3000 post. As the title/rank rises so does the vote value. For example:
0 - Kilted Member [New] =1
10 - Kilted Member =2
50 - Kilted Regiment =3
100 - Kilted Samurai(or alternate)=4
250 - Kilted Warrior =5
500 - Kilted Gentry =6
750 - Kilted Noble =7
1000 - Kilted Elder =8
2000 - Kilted Legend =9
3000 - Grand Defender of the Kilt =10
Moderator =10
The GDF can propose a title for themselves or one can be proposed for them by anyone. Obviously if they object to it then it would be unfair to run with the title, but a title can be negitiated case specifically (if they want one). It's not like it would happen every second day, and we can look forward to it.
Some of the martial artistists may be aware that once a Karate-ka goes beyond 10th dan Black Belt then they return to white belt. I think this a beautiful philosophy, and we could take a leaf from the book:
5000 - Grand Master of the Kilt
10000 - Kilted
Just Kilted. Nice and simple.
Erin.
