spats?
No don't worry, I wasn't really planning on getting a pair.
But they would be the answer to two little problems I have:
I do a lot of (dog) walking kilted. Quite a bit of walking through woods and hedgerows, undergrowth, brambles and whatever. And what I have noticed is that this very hard on kilt hose. I've started wearing cheap, very thick and long work socks for this reason. If they snag, they snag.
Another annoying thing is the amount of pine needles, small stones and other assorted stuff that gather in my shoes whilst walking, unprotected by a trouser leg as they are.
Is there an easy answer to this? Gaiters are too much, I don't want to look as if I'm about to scale the North Face of the Eiger. High boots, although I'm not crazy about the look?
