harp badge...
There is a big debate in the reenacting community about just who exactly wore the Irish harp (or angel harp, as I have seen it referred to as well) badge. Certainly it was more likely to be found in "ethnic" Irish regiments, such as the 69th, the 116 Pennsylvania, 28th Mass., etc. Today, however, it seems like every reenactor wears one, regardless of what unit they are portraying. During the 19th century, one would not be so "bold" with their ethnicity among "native" Americans, due to anti-immigrant (especially anti-Irish) sentiment among the general population...
...but I digress. I like it. It would look very good on an Irish caubeen as well.
Cheers,
Todd
