I wore a kilt for the first time in public this past weekend. As I mentioned in another thread I've ordered my first kilt but my local Celtic society wanted me to pose for our Kilts Up! calendar so I wore a borrowed kilt (Royal Stewart tartan). The next day we were having a pipe jam at a local bar. [An aside - those of you from Arizona might know that our local piping group, the Arizona Highlanders, kind of took a hiatus for a bit - but they are reformed and doing regular pipe jams again in Flagstaff!) Anyway, I decided to wear the kilt again for the pipe jam. Thanks to the suggestions from this group, I didn't try and wear it on my bike - I just changed when I got there. My first time out was sort of cheating, I guess, as half the guys there were wearing kilts, but still - for me it was a big step. My normal response to attracting any kind of notice is to turn three shades of red. But it went great. Everyone commented on how nice it looked. I just wish I had seen the Hamish video before I went. I was okay, standing at the bar and walking around, but when it came time to sit I stared at that chair like I'd never seen one before. (By the way, Hamish, if you read this, our society president, Jude, says hi!)
