Well.....here's an interesting question - have you ever totally forgotten you were kilted and done something you shouldn't have?

I have been wearing my kilt as much as possible since around July 5th and it was bound to happen - I'm really pretty spacey.

I drove eight hours out to Santa Fe to meet some female Swedish cousins who were visiting the United States for the first time ever - didn't want to wear my Utilikilt while I was with them because I wanted our visit to be about family.

I told them about my kilt wearing and they weren't quite sure how to take that. Even my cousin who lives in Santa Fe had never heard of non-tartan kilts.

Anyway, last Friday night I hardly got any sleep and Saturday morning I walked all over Santa Fe with them so when I donned my kilt and hit the road around noon for my eight hour trip back home (regimental, of course) I was mighty tired.

I had bottles of coffee in the back seat I was drinking to attempt to wake up and I had stopped at a gas station in Albuquerque to fill up the car. I was finished pumping gas, I had a bottle of coffee in one hand and Advil in the other hand, I was tired and I had a headache and I just plopped down on the driver's seat.

Mind you, I wasn't even thinking...no butt sweep, no nothing. Also, since I was trying to fit my butt between the steering wheel and the seat I was rubbing on the back of the seat which made my kilt get really short.

I had no idea I was wearing a kilt until I was sitting and then realizing that NOTHING felt right I looked down and then said, "OH MY GOSH, WHAT AM I DOING??"

Fortunately, there was no one there to see me but......that would have been really embarrasing. I sometimes wonder if as absent-minded as I am I should be wearing a kilt?
