Look for threads on pressing and steaming before you start ironing. Pressing with a piece of cloth between yur iron and the kilt as opposed to ironing may be a better solution.

And, yes, the Nightstalker sporran is so practical that I'm wearing it even when I'm not wearing the kilt. Middle aged guys find that they have to carry a lot more stuff...reading glasses, train tickets...and it beats using the ubiquitous "f*nny pack" (see...I'm asterisking that for our UK friends who always point out that "f*nny" has a totally diffrent meaning in the UK...am I considerate or what?). It does get a lot of looks..."what the hell is that?" they seem to be thinking...not that anyone asks or walks up and says "is that a sporran?" Point is that Jerry should really consider doing a leather "dress" version of the Nightstalker sporran...I suppose that it wouldn't technically be a "dress" sporran but it would be a bit more formal...I'm sure that your experience with it would make you, as it would for me, pretty disposed toward buying a leather one.

...and tuck in that shirt!

And one thing that I've found helps to get the look that I aim for is to scroonch down the really long socks...I got a bunch of the Bridgedale Blaxnit socks on sale; they go up well over the knee and can be worn cuffed or scroonched down...makes the ankles look more proportional to the calf.

Glad to see that you're getting into the kilt thing and obviously enjoying it...it is cool, isn't it?

Best
