I ordered the episode where all the men are kilted (Castle De'ath). What a treat! I remember watching the Avengers as a boy in the 1960s. This edition is as fresh as ever. What is added fun is to see all the different kilted men, casual formal, different types of kilt jackets etc. Kilt worn invariably to the top of the knee. When casual no belts are worn.

Now last time we went around this, I asked about McSteed's tartan and all we talked about was Dianna Rigg! But I am now more intrigued than ever about the tartan. It is clearly a nice "tank", but the sett looks a bit strange to my eyes. It does not appear to be the same in warp and weft. From the back it looks as if it is pleated to stripe, with the downward stripes somewhat hidden. But it seems the same on the front apron. The down stripes are either not there or very faint and not as strong in color as the cross stripes.

Now it may be the way it looks on TV, but I remain curious. What is that tartan? (And if we go back to Emma Peel, then I just give up!)

Anyway, I thoroughly recommend it.
