    Kelso

An early afternoon finish to today's court sitting, so I stopped off in Kelso on the way home for a brief walkabout.

The views from the car park at the Mayfield aren't the most inspiring so we will take a kilted walk up to Kelso Bridge.

From the bridge we can view the pool where the River Teviot flows into the River Tweed. This is a popular fishing spot and anglers pay plenty to the riparian owners for a day here with a rod.

From the same spot we can zoom in with the camera and pick out Floors Castle, home of the 10th Duke of Roxburghe.

On the north bank of the River Tweed stood Kelso Abbey, founded in 1128 and constructed during the remainder of the 12th century.

The only surviving section is the west end where much of the west tower and the transepts remain. The cloisters in the foreground were added in 1933 as a memorial to the 8th Duke of Roxburghe.
