I recently went to a memorial service of a gentleman who had been president of the Scottish St. Andrew's Society of Spokane. I had met him several times and enjoyed his sense of humor. I felt it was right to honor him by wearing a kilt. The widow made a point of thanking me for coming and for wearing highland dress as an honor to him. After the memorial I had the opportunity to speak with his step-daughter-in-law who was dressed in a kilted skirt. She said she wasn’t quite sure about wearing the kilted skirt but had decided that she too wished to honor his memory that way. We both knew we had made the right choice.
