No Pants In DC
I just got back from a quick trip to DC. Flew Tues, meeting on Wed, flew home Thurs. The only pants on the trip were my uniform for the meeting. Made the flight wearing the kilt, visited with friends Tuesday night and then met up with a cousin I haven't seen in years (he and his brother have kilts from his brother's wedding) for Wed night. Flew home kilted.
Still a bit new to being kilted in public, but it went well (and I didn't leave myself any options for backing out). Actually, as some of you have already said, it was almost dissapointing how oblivious most people were to it. The only comments were one guy started whistling "Scotland the Brave" as I was washing my hands in the airport men's room, and one of the (very nice looking) ticket agents told me I looked dashing, which led to the discussion about which tartan it was, etc. But that was it. Even the people I sat next to on each flight didn't mention anything (and I had to get two of them out of their seats since I had the window seat).
I found going through security was easier since all my stuff was all in my sporran, not in 5 different pockets, but getting a good pleat sweep trying to fold my 6'-3" frame into the window seat was next to impossible. However, even after sitting on the big wad of pleats for 5 hours, they hung beautifully (heavyweight wool).
This is starting to get way to easy to do. I don't know what you guys are doing to me......
