Kilt Night Report - Atlanta
Well guys, the Atlanta area folks met last night for a kilt night. Cavscout, Turpin, Gilmore and I got together at the Loafing Leprechaun for a bite of dinner and a round or two (ok, for me it was diet coke, but who was looking?)
It was a great evening and a chance to get to know one another. The only down side was the location was a bit of a yuppie bar and was quite loud. As I am a little hard of hearing anyway, it was difficult to hear all of the conversations.
The night also included a show and tell with Cavscout bringing some of his wares and Turpin bringing three of his sporrans (as well as hose from WPG, and a glengary from eBay). Lot's of cool stuff to see and handle (Turpin, that badger full mask with the claw hangers was stunning!) Personally, I went home a little poorer as I took home a three inch kilt belt and sporran strap from Cavscout. (BTW, WOW - I am wearing it now and there is nothing like it! Pictures to follow)
All in all a great evening and I am certainly looking forward to our next one (hopefully thescot, Alan, and shawhighlander can make it for the next one)
For the rest of the rabble that are now asking "where's the pictures", all I can say is 'no habla englis'. I forgot to bring a camera! In my defense though, I had just gotten off an airplane from Dallas and just had time to run home, pet the wife, kiss the dog and grab my kilt and go.
Mike
(p.s. I had to stop at a McD's on the way home to remove excess liquid and I thought the guy behind the counter was going to explode! Poor guy had never seen a kilt and in walks a 6-1, 290 pounder. They poor guy could not even work the register so I could pay for my sprite!)

"A veteran, whether active duty, retired, national guard or reserve, is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to "The United States of America", for an amount of "up to and including my life." That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country who no longer understand it." anon
