Belmont Kilt Night February 23rd
The night was cold but the previous day's rain had left a clear sky with Orion shining brightly next to a crescent moon. It was the last Friday of the month and the Bay Area Kilties gathered at the Devil's Canyon Brewery in Belmont. DCB regulars TimC , captainjak, Panache, Walkerk, way2fractious, The F-H.C.A.G. (along with the Amazing Madalyne, Lovely Damaris, Sinbad, and Xena) were joined by kiltimabar and his charming wife Anne who were on their way to Monterey and took the opportunity to share a drink with us.
TimC showed off the almost 80 year old Douglas kilt kilt that angerli had generously given him. He had had a few repairs done to and it looked in remarkable shape. It is a real testament to how a well made kilt can be a useful garment for generations. w2f showed us a sample of Military Box pleats pleated to sett he had been working on. I brought along the elk horn handle I've been shaping for w2f to see if it felt good in his grip (if he is going to be fighting for his life against cattle thieves his dirk better feel right in his hand ) Madalyne brought copies an article in the Pacifica Tribune all about our Northern California Burns Night Supper. kiltimabar sported a box pleated kilt by Matt Newsome in the Federal Memorial Tartan (that was mentioned by cajunscot in a thread a few weeks back). A real sharp tartan and as a Matt Newsome kilt you know it was a thing of beauty. The F-H.C.A.G. made Sinbad's flashes in time so he could proudly wear his X Marks the Scot tartan kilt in all it's glory. The F-H.C.A.G. was very pleased that w2f and the kilted krew gave it a thumbs up
Madalyne, myself, and w2f took some photographs so (as usual) it was a well documented evening. Here are a few pictures:
