Honestly I have rarely found that to be true. Granted I rarely wear it in the summer (I have summer weight formal jackets) but inside during the winter I haven't had trouble unless it was so warm that everyone was uncomfortable. The only reason I can think of is that it only requires a t-shirt underneath as opposed to the multiple layers with a PC.

Granted if the conditions are too warm then you can't take off layers like others can and I think knowing that can make you more uncomfortable. I will admit that as much as I like it I wouldn't want it to be my only choice as a formal jacket. However, I go to so many that it was worth the investment in more than one style and I only use the doublet for the dressiest ones.

The only way I would suggest someone get a Doublet as their only formal jacket is if they know they will only be using it for very dressy events preferably in the cooler months.
