Once you get everything together so she gets the full effect it may help. You can also set up a bit of an ambush with the connivance of some friends. Have them come over or meet somewhere when you are wearing the kilt and make sure they know to compliment the look in her hearing. Of course, you may have to stand to some kidding prior to the compliments. That is sort of how I got my parents to accept the kilt more. The kicker was when little old ladies none of us knew came up to me and complimented the kilt. Either way, slow and patient will win the day.
