Waist suppression, literally.
Howdy,
This may be slightly off topic, but it is the beginning of my second wool kilt.
Here's a shot of my workspace, my running shoes, my last fast food dinner, and the date of my 40th birthday. They're atop a 4 meter piece of regimental weight (18 ounce) Mackenzie Seaforth from RM Noble. In a few days this roll of excellent textile will be knife pleated, and set to a 33" waist with 41" hips. I'm cutting tonight, and assembling the aprons.
My current measurements are a 37" waist with 40" hips. I'm 5'10" tall and 10-15 pounds overweight. In the last decade I was a semi pro cyclist, whitewater slalom kayaker, alpinist, and biathlete. Now I'm a reclusive coffee slurping slob.
Publilshing this constitutes throwing down the gauntlet at my own feet.
Wish me luck. Feel free to chide me too. You're a passionate bunch, and I've appreciated learning about your community in the last few weeks.
Kevin.
PS- I snagged most of the Douglas poly/wool from Fraser and Kirkbright. We're a dual clan bunch- grandmother was a Douglas, and grandfather was probably Mackenzie. Once I've finished, I'll have some sizeable leftovers for even less than $6 a yard. Stay tuned.
