While inland California was enduring a heat wave, it was cool and overcast along the coast. The Monterey Games, now in their 40th year, still has a small and cozy feel. Held in a long, narrow valley a few mile inland, the grass and trees are lush even during the usually dry summer.



For X-Markers it was noticeable that there were hardly any kilts worn by "non-participants". Even Utilikilts were few in number. Several people stopped to complement my non-tartan R-kilt. Here's a toast to Robert on our birthday.



At least one of the dogs was kilted!



The Amazing Madalyne found a sash for herself in California tartan. Since the vendor had fashioned a rosette for her, she immediately demanded my cap badge as a brooch.



There were a fair number of clans in attendance.
