I am a passionate woodworker and would like to design a custom kilt pin. The first thing that comes to mind is a hand plane. Now I have a friend who can cast it for me. I think the plane would look funny standing on end if I wear it vertical. I have not seen a pin going horizontal yet. Is there a reason way not? The pin would be about 3" long. I feel it would be much more recognizable worn that way. Another thought would be to have the overall pin be round and the plane be inside of that (not my first choice). I am still going over other designs too. Any thoughts on this would be great. Anybody wearing a pin that way?
