On an Internet news site run by the official – and strictly non-commercial - Danish radio and television broadcast company, Danmarks Radio, you can see a 60 sec. video featuring Utilikilts. Probably it has been shown on Danish television as well - we were abroad on holiday in July.

American trend: Men in kilts
July 22 2007 11:16 (01:09)

In Seattle, USA a clothing manufacturer has great success by selling kilts to men. But it is kilt fashion without tartan.

Translation of the speak:

“A small company in the US wants to revolution men’s fashion – with skirts.
Everywhere in Seattle you can see men daring out in kilts”.

[Steven Villegas about comfort and air conditioning]

“These are made for the active and self confident man. But this kilt collection should be able to make any Scotsman whistle in the bagpipe”.

[Lady who says the kilt looks good but not for her own husband to wear – because he hasn’t nice legs]

“To those interested we can tell that they cost between 600 crowns and three and a half thousand, and that they come in leather, and for white tie functions and the most popular one here with a belt for tools and room for a six-pack of beers”.

[A Young lady is telling that she is supportive, because it takes a lot of guts for a man to wear a skirt].

“The small company sold its first kilt in year 2000. Today it is the world’s leading kilt manufacturer with more than 25.000 sold”.

All in all positive, I think, even if the kilt is called a skirt twice.
