I've visited Stillwater Kilts and I may just go with the Irish National Tartan. I measured my personal kilt and band kilt and they are 24" from the top to bottom not from the bottom of the sewn down part of the pleats.
I can also order two youth kilts for my two grandsons in the same tartan but less expensive...I like that part.
I'll decide by Monday. I can return the kilt if I don't like the fit. But it would be great to have it by the end of the month, the next home game. Beyond all that, my wife is a Corbett (Irish) which is under the sept of Clan Ross. So wearing the Irish National Tartan would be sensible in this case, beyond piping for the Notre Dame High School (Prep) football team.
If it is too light weight, my wife said she could sew a special weighted product at the bottom selvage without it being seen that would protect against unwanted revelations occurring in high breezes.
