I seem to be getting the signal that you chaps in the USA and perhaps Canada regard a dress shirt as a white shirt that is worn with a lounge/business type of suit.

Or in kilt terms the white collared shirt that might be worn with a tweed Argyll(suit) and the same sort of white shirt that should be worn with a black Argyll and silver buttons(morning suit)are,I think,regarded by you chaps the other side of the Atlantic as a dress shirt.

I wonder?
