I think the gussett is not the front panel of the sporran, nor the back panel of the sporran, nor the flap of the sporran, but the 2" (or so) strip that separates the front and back panels.

Does that make sense? I think that's what the gussett is, but I'm waiting for coffee to brew, so I might still be in the spirit world.
