Hello,
I am a 4th generation Englishman. My great great grandfather in the direct male line was a Scot from Cramond in Midlothian who "emigrated" to England about 1810 to 1815.
The Masons of Midlothian are a sept of the Sinclair Clan.
I now have a Sinclair tartan kilt and, though an Englishman, am proud of my Scottish heritage. I will be wearing the kilt publicly for the first time on New Year's Eve.
How do Scotsmen in Scotland feel about people such as me wearing the kilt? I have been told that if I were to wear it in Scotland it might cause offence to the Scots. Any thoughts?

John Mason.
