I ordered this 'Jacobite' style sporran from Ebay.
It came in the post today and, while I was happy with it, it wasn't quite what I expected.

It's a little flimsier and flatter than I expected and the closure system was very, very stiff. I could see it tearing the leather over time, so I decided to alter it a bit and make it something I was more comfortable with.

Here's what it looked like when it arrived.

And here is what the closure device looked like. It stuck tight in the flap and you had to pull it very hard to open it.

The strap for the belt was also quite low down, so the sporran hung at a very odd angle. So I moved that further up. (After this picture was taken I cleaned off the back.

The I took out the closure device and replaced it with magnets.
I also decorated the front with a silver St. Christopher medallion.
(I found it shortly after the very first time Diane and I were parted and we have used it as something of a talisman since.)

I also split the hanging thongs on the front into threes and then pleated them.
I might also put some small wooden beads over the bottom bit of the thongs.

I'm happy with the overall look and it feels a lot better to wear it.
It's no Freelander or Thorfinn, but I like it.
