New Shooting jacket from Kevin Kinney

Kevin posted a recent thread about a shooting jacket that he had made for himself. In that post, he mentioned another jacket that he had started to make, but was not quite finished. It was a dark blue, and he had decided that he liked another color better for himself. So he offered the blue one up for grabs. He said it would fit a 42 or "slim" 44. I'm a fairly slim 44, so I jumped at the chance.

It arrived earlier this week. Kevin left the cuffs unfinished, so I could finish them as I needed for my sleeve length (I was concerned that it might not be long enough). I finished the cuffs on Wednesday and wore the jacket into work this morning.

The response is very positive! I absolutely love the look of it, and two people at the museum immediately asked if they could buy one in their size.

This one is, admittedly, a little form fitting on me around the middle. I know what Kevin meant by a "slim" 44! I think it looks fine so long as I leave it unbuttoned.

But I'm not all that concerned, as I just today sent Kevin off a length of Harris Tweed cloth to make me one in my usual size of 44L. Once I have that one, I suspect I'll be generous and find a slimmer individual to fit into this little beauty. In the meantime, I'll enjoy it while we still have these cool Carolina mountain spring mornings!

Now the pics (please remember the cuffs are my own work, and while I can sew a kilt, I make no claims to be able to sew anything else, so any flaws are my own!).

Lastly, just as a teaser (and I hope Kevin doesn't mind me mentioning this), I'm talking with him about the possibility of making this style jacket for the Scottish Tartans Museum gift shop from Harris Tweed and various other cloths that we could provide to him. So please stay tuned for further details in that regard as they develop!
