I got this kilt on Ebay a good long while ago, but there was some trouble with getting the paypal to work and I didn't get it delivered until a month or so ago.
Now, I knew it would need taken up, but the measurements were so off that I needed to get it taken out.

I put it into a local alterations place which advertise as having altered a lot of kilts.
It was only 40 quid, so I went ahead.

Now, while the woman's alteration work and stitches are absolutely impeccable, rather than hemming it she has just chopped the bottom few inches off.
I am now trying to find a way to seal the bottom of the kilt so it doesn't fray.

The kilt itself is a Thomas Gordon & Sons Argyle and Sutherland Highlanders Military Box Pleat and it is just a joy to wear.
The 22 oz wool is soft but very heavy and thick. The kilt itself just fits like a glove now and I am very, very happy with it.

So, here are the pictures.
Forgive the hasty and tired look, I had just finished a night shift.

This is the pleats with a very heavy-duty fan pointed at them. Fantastic.

And, the splay shot:

Overall I am really happy. It was well worth the money.
