X Marks the Scot - An on-line community of kilt wearers.
-
At my son’s school, they have an International Culture Week.
The school sent home notices asking people who came from
other countries, or who had lived in other lands, to help create
displays, and to wear their national garb. My son suggested
that we volunteer to represent Scotland, since I had live there
(and you know I had the wardrobe for it ). After some
arm twisting I agreed, then I found out that we were supposed
to also serve food.
Long story short, much thanks to Walkers Shortbreads,
for their generous donation of cookies. Apparently my mention of the kilt
was the deal closer in my request for aid. We also served samples of
Irn-Bru, but since that came out of pocket our supply was quite limited.
Last but by no means least, a classmate that hails from Clan MacDonald,
and his Mom helped staff the exhibit and his family provided meat pies.
Now on to the pics:
The event was held in a large hall, with tables representing over 40 nations on all four sides (this was the calm before the storm):
Here’s the informational part of our table:
My two clever little monkeys (on the right) and a classmate giving thanks to our sponsor:
Ready to rock:
Cookies and Irn-Bru
The young MacDonald:
Cry havoc!
Our fellow Celts:
Slainte!
Best regards,
Jake
