The movie, Rob Roy with Liam Neeson is a favorite of many of us on this forum. Yesterday, I was watching it with an eye towards the Féileadh Mòr (belted plaids) the Highlanders wore. You could see a few different ways of wearing it. The men slept in, loved in it and died in it.

However, at the end when Rob dueled the evil Archibald, before the fight Rob removed the top of plaid to be shown wearing a fèileadh beag. Now the fèileadh beag, I believe would have been around then, but I think this ‘poetic’ license is confusing. The film up to this point, had quite a bit of historic accuracy. I think it would have been best to have him droped the entire Féileadh Mòr, and dueled only in his leine. Or to only worn his jacket with the fèileadh beag. Any thoughts?

You can watch it for free at Hulu.com. Enjoy!
