Made a whirlwind trip to Toronto, ON this past weekend for this year's installment of a Red Sox pilgrimage myself and some friends make. We hit a different city every year to watch a game. But I digress....

Went to the Saturday game kilted, and as I'm not familiar with Toronto's rules on fixed blades, I left the sgian dubh state-side and had my sgian don't tucked neatly in my hose. While waiting in line to get in to the Rogers Centre, a member of the Toronto PD tapped me on the shoulder, pulled me aside out of earshot of everyone else in line and politely asked:

"How long's the blade you got in your sock there son?"

I pulled out the sgian don't and replied with a smile: "Actually sir, it's a bottle opener."

He laughed, said "thanks, enjoy the game."

Personally I was impressed he knew what to look for.

As a side note, it was my first trip to Toronto, and I must say I am impressed. City was easy to get around in, and the people were exceedingly nice.
