I post this in the celebration zone because my wife and I celebrated our 40th Wedding Anniversary on 30 August by taking a long weekend trip to Vienna, Austria.

Of course it is one of the great capital cities of Europe, filled with history and music. To partake of that ambiance, we went to a concert at the Kurpark Salon near the city center. It was put on by a small chamber orchestra and consisted of music from Mozart and the 3 great Strauss composers. It was a wonderful evening of light classical music in a fabulous late 19th Century Salon hall.

However, to top it off, we took our seats about 30 minutes before the performance and shortly after another couple sat down beside us. After a few minutes, the gentleman turned and asked, in a Scottish accent, if we were Americans. Turns out he and his wife were on holiday from Glasgow!
We chatted for a while and I mentioned that I had taken note of the World Piping Championships in Glasgow. He said he had a part in running the event, but I didn't probe further.

My wife and I were in Glasgow last summer and then down to Dumfries and so the conversation proceeded until the performace started and then for a few minutes during intermission. What an enjoyable addition to a very nice anniversary.

I didn't take a kilt along this trip. Just wanted to relax and blend in.
Next kilted event will probably be this coming Friday evening when the Chapel hosts a volunteer recognition supper. Then on the 20-21st of Sept for the final big Highland Games in Germany at Machern, near Leipzig.

I'm enjoying catching up on the posts here from the last few days.

Best wishes to all
Tom
