The evolution of modifying jackets
(into a kilt jacket)
One man's story.
My first project was to take a tailcoat and convert it into a “Prince Charlie” jacket.
Thread found here: http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/kilted_pc_conversion-t30378/index.html
The good:
It was wearable to my daughter’s wedding. Found here
The bad:
The washers were heavy! I used fender washers.
I did not make the crail type sleeves for the sleeve buttons.
The epaulettes were not sewn into the seam of the shoulder and the button was sewn to the epaulettes without a buttonhole. (This was quick and easy.)
Lessons Learned:
Don't shortcut, I want to go back and add the button holes to the epauletts and attach the sleeve stuff.
Jacket #2 to follow.
