A Nice Compliment
So tonight I'm wearing my RKilt saffron leather kilt with a nice polo shirt. Had been over to the 50th Anniversary party for our local hospital - was a minor dignitary as a former member of the board of directors.
Then headed over to our local AA campout on the shores of Lake Powell. Once a year we have this weekend gig called Serenity by the Lake and invite out of town AA speakers and any AA members who want to come to hear the speakers, hang out, have a good time, have a big BBQ dinner etc. Starts on Friday night and runs through Sunday afternoon.
The first speaker is a lady from Phoenix who I've known since I got sober. She's the widow of an old friend and coworker. He and I even had the same sponsor until that sponsor died.
So, point is, we're friends so I was asked to introduce her. After I introduced her and I'm walking back to sit down to hear what she has to say she leans over to the mic and says, "I hate it whan a man looks better in a skirt than I do."
Cracked me, and a couple hundred others, up. She knows well its a kilt but she needed to use the word skirt to make her point. The tone of her voice was one of loving fun.
