I know only one thing absolutely for sure, that is, I am Matty Ross.
I can trace my Ross Line back to about 1741 to William Ross, the son of James Ross, who lived on Northwest Fork Hundred, Sussex County, Delaware. Also born in 1730 in New Castle Delaware was George Ross Who Signed the Declaration of Independence. No one has been able to connect our two Families.

My father’s mother’s side goes back to Jacques Raphael Findlay. The Son of James Findlay we know was born in Scotland. “Joco” as he was known was a trapper trader and Guide for the Northwest Fur trading company. He was noted as the guide who lead famed explorer David Thompson across the rocky Mountains and on to the Pacific ocean. Joco also established several Fur trading houses for the Northwest Company.
Just for the fun of it;
Once upon a time, before I turned into Santa Claus, I had bright red Hair. The mark of a true Celt? Anyway, My Grand Father Rollo Roy Hallenbeck had red Hair. His Grand mother Hannah Brownell was also known to have been a “Fiery Red Head” Her Grand mother was Nancy Harris. We do know Nancy daughter of William Harris was born in Kirkcubright, Dumfries Shire, Scotland.
So Here I have traced My Red Hair 5 generations back to Scotland
