Autumn in Glen Etive
Glen Etive is a 14 mile single track road that ends at the head of Loch Etive, this very beautiful glen is often bypassed by tourist heading across Rannoch Moor to Glencoe,
it's a road to nowhere that just has to be taken, stunning scenery with plenty of wildlife, especially Red deer in the winter months seeking the relative shelter in the glen, more deer than you can shake the preverbial stick at, Red squirrels, Golden Eagles and at the Loch a walk along the shores may get you the odd glimpse of an otter.
At the Glencoe end of Glen Etive you pass right alongside Stob Dearg part of the Buachaille Etive Mor mountain range
passing many a waterfall on your left,
you stop and look back at where you have come from
Stop and say Hi to the locals
and wonder where the owner of this bicycle maybe, and how long he has been there
finally you will reach Loch Etive
view down the Loch
Aside from a sedate drive, taking in the surrounding scenery, there are ample places to safely park the car in order to take a days hiking in the hills, or if white water kayaking is your prefference there are some very good rapid sections before the river widens and reaches the loch, it's a special place, and one I highly recommend to tourists that are looking for something special to see and do.
Hope you enjoyed the trip
Chris
