In today's edition of the European Stars and Stripes (paper published by the US Military) there is a Travel Section feature on The Royal Scotsman.

Here is a link http://epaper.stripes.com

The writer of the article says that it now runs excursions from Edinburgh through the highlands. Trips are for 2 to 7 nights. The train carries up to 36 people. You are piped aboard at Edinburg's Waverley Station by a piper in full kilt (his picture is prominently displayed on the cover of the Travel Section).

I'll let you read the rest of the article if you are interested. You too can have this experience for only $3,610 for two nights (per person, double occupancy) or up to $10,680 for the 7 day trip. You will have to wait until 2010 because the 2009 season is booked solid.

Little too rich for me, but someone might be interested (or how many kilts will that buy?)

For me, I'm taking Friday off. Going down to the resort of Garmisch in the German south. Tomorrow evening is a holiday reception for the military folk there and I'll be wearing a kilt for sure.

Enjoy the article.
