Lads and Lassies of the mighty Nor Cal Rabble...

On Saturday, January 17th, 2009 we will be celebrating the Bard's 250th Birthday with a traditional Burns' Supper (and whisky tasting) at last year's venue, The Old Mill at Montevalle (a retirement community) in Scott's Valley, approximately 20 miles south of San Jose. The price will be $20 per person and $3 for children, 12 years and under (special children's menu or anything from the adult buffet).

For those curious what last years event was like take a look at this thread:

http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/n...106/index.html

It was an amazing evening and we hope that this one will be even better!

Now the reason we are still able to have our Burns Night so inexpensively is that all attendees share in bringing a dish or bottle of whisky for the tasting (save for the roast beef and haggis which is provided)

Dress is Formal or Dressy (Just try to look your best, but know that we would rather have you there than worry about if you have a formal outfit or not)

Because we will be limiting attendees, all money/checks must be sent/given to Madalyn Drago before the dinner (no money will be collected at the door! )

Reservations will be done by paying before January 12, 2009.

Madalyn’s contact information as follows:

Please let her know how many will be attending and what you will bring.

Note: Madalyn will be at the December 19th Kilt Night at Devil's Canyon Brewery if you would like to pay her person.

Program (Times approximate):

4pm--Check in, scotch sampling, appetizers, "prom pictures" so wear your dressy-est outfits

6pm--Traditional Burns' Supper and recitations

After dinner there will be live music, Dancing, more drinking and fun (even door prizes)

*smoked salmon, *cheese and *crackers, fruit and veggie platters,
*appetizers, *Cock-a-leekie soup, green salad, savory roast, *neeps and
*tatties, peas, rolls and butter, sherry triffle, *shortbread cookies

Children are welcome and a certain amount of play and merriment among the youngsters is fine. Please remember though that this is a special event and parents are asked to be responsible for their children and ensure that they are not disruptive to the event’s proceedings.

Feel free to post questions or let us know that you are coming on this thread, but the most important thing to do to ensure that a spot is saved for you is to contact Madalyn ASAP!

Hope to see you there!

Cheers

Jamie and Madalyn
